This is a special time for the mother and the baby! Pre-natal physiotherapy is important as we will assess different areas of pelvic health to make sure both mommy and baby are healthy in preparation for labour. Pelvic floor exercises will be given to help get the muscles stronger to help for the ‘push’ phase of labour. Relaxation and breathing techniques are a big component of what we do here at Victoria Pelvic Physiotherapy.
Postnatally, we will assess for pain, prolapse, incontinence, diastasis recti and a number of other pelvic issues that can arise. We use different techniques whether the baby was born via a vaginal birth or a c-section. The goal is to get you feeling better as fast as possible, and safely as possible, using evidence-based treatment approaches to make sure you can return to do what you love.
